7 days in Panama - help on itinerary!
Hola,My boyfriend and I are planning a weeklong trip to Panama for the first week of April. We need some advice in creating our itinerary. He is from South America and I from the US, and we are meeting in Panama after 9 months apart. He has never seen the beach nor the mountains so I would like to do both if possible. We would like to get the most bang for our buck - keeping our budget to a minimum but still enjoying our lodging and privacy and maybe one "fun" activity (horseback riding, rafting, snorkeling etc). Any suggestions for how to make the most of our money and time while still enjoying our short week together would be much appreciated. Gracias!

A week is not much time. Suggest Boquette in the highlands. Lots to do - horseriding, 4wheel drive, coffee plantations, hikes etc. Plenty of places to stay - at a range of prices and places to eat.For the beach - there is plenty to do around Panama City and you can work in looking at all the ships going through the Canal and also amazing wildlife walks within the bounds of the City.
The Lonely Planet guide is very helpful.

I just spend 2 weeks in Panama with my girlfriend. The Bocas were amazing. We stayed in these cabins over the water at Bahia Del Sol. It was about $80 a night, but you can do much cheaper in the islands. But for $80 it is a steal. Well worth over $200. Everyday was a great. We were the only people on Turtle Beach for the whole day. We went ziplining, cave diving, hiking, snorkeling, and everything was fairly cheap. For example a day going dolphin watching, snorkeling, and 4 hours on a deserted island only cost $20 a person. Cave diving was $25 a person. Drinks were about $1.50 a beer. Everything was amazing. You can also access Boquette from the Bocas. A great chance to see jungle covered mountains.3
Thank you so much for your help. It sounds wonderful!I had also seen the San Blas Islands but it appears that they would be in the other direction and not extremely convenient.
And yes, I wish I could go for longer but that's the leave I get from my job. After so long apart, our priority is to see each other in a beautiful backdrop rather than seeing the country in each other's company. Maybe next time!

Back to a itinerary for Panama City. I too am going the first week of January with my girlfriend for one week. I'd like to do the beach, jungle/forest, mountains, pearl islands. Please let me know from your experiences. Also how much do taxis cost to get around? Any ideas or examples would be great. Would it be worth it to rent a car? Thanks in advance
