Tours from Yogya and Solo

Visiting Central Java next October. Can anyone recommend any guides or tour ops that operate out of of Yogya or Solo? Want to do the standard "sights" but also get off the beaten track.
We will be there for a week and we don't want to spend time messing around finding the right people.

Go couch surfing in Yogya and you will meet some wonderful people that know a lot about the region.

Thanks for the link. Would welcome any more suggestions.
I know what you mean about talking to people - but we won't have much spare time. When we get to Solo we will settle for a few days and get to know the place and people, but we plan to get on from Yogya as quickly as possible. We want to do things like Borobodur, but we also want to get more out of it than that - a local guide can put it in context.

Poster ashley6 usually recommends a great guide he used - do a search for his name and you should get a couple of posts where he has given the guide's contact information. Good luck with your search.

We are making progress with this and have a trip mapped out. Have read that there is the possibility of meditation etc courses in Solo. Does anyone have any experience of these?
