Hi there, to be honest it is extremely difficult to tell you how to get there when you don't detail where you are going to be prior to travelling there. I was in Thailand in April and aimed to be in and around Koh Phangan for the full moon party roughly a week before full moon. I stayed in Koh Samui (Chewang Beach), surfed the net for a bit, and booked up some accomodation in Ban Tai (Koh Phangan), it turns out I paid well over the odds, but they do say the accomodation is a lot more expensive in the lead up to Full Moon. My advice is try and stay in Haad Rin, it reminded me a little of Koh Phi Phi where it was like its only little community.

Alternatively, I know some people actually stayed in Koh Samui and then the night of Full Moon they got a Speed Boat across and partied till the early hours, and then got the speed boat back in the morning. But all choices depend on where you are....

There are travel agencies all around Thailand so wherever you will be before the Full Moon, you can go to the agency and they will organize your travel to Phangan. Once on Koh Phangan you'll be at Thong Sala, where the main pier is, so you'll need to take a taxi to Haad Rin, which is where the party is. Make sure you have accommodation pre booked as it gets very busy, and there is a 3 night minimum stay around the full moon party. I suggest getting there a few days early, as there will be lots of other people there waiting for the party as well to give you the chance to meet people, and make friends. Have fun and be careful!
