Apartment rental for tourists in GoaHi everyone!
I am looking to rent an apartment in Goa over the December January period for 1/2 months with some friends. We want to settle in the area for a while and have been told by many people this may be the best way to avoid peak season prices and to make the most of our experience.
Does anybody know any websites/any people/any information which may help me organise this?
Any help appreciated!

What do you want?..AC/cable?.Hot water?Western toliet?.Your choses are many. But You must be here this week!..NOW!.
Expect to pay 6000Rs>15,000Rs per month.Depends how lucky and how stupid you look.Seriously.That is the way it works here and anywhere for that matter

2whereabouts in Goa do you want to be?
if your wanting somewhere for 1/2 months in peak season i'd suggest booking somewhere just for a couple of nights and then you've got the chance to look around and negotiate.
have often found website rates quote the maximum price possible so you'd get a much better deal seeing the place and negotiating in person.

4Just visit www.quikr.com and search for apartment for rental in Goa and you will have several options and many are direct offer from owners so no brokerage involved.

Whoever told you that was wrong, peak season is the only time anyone who lets villas / apartments, makes any money. Even in less pricey south Goa, you will be expected to pay rs5-6,000 + deposit per day for a 2 bed apt during Dec / Jan. And don't believe the myth that you'll get a better deal negotiating in person, agency fees are taken from the actual tariff anything from 10%, if the owner doesn't have to pay a fee it's all the better for them. You have to understand that no one apart from a fool would let their home to complete strangers for a pitance and no deposit.
Deposits are taken for a number of reasons, like booking the apartment and then deciding you don't want it at the last minute or wrecking / damaging items in the apartment or going against the terms and conditions, which you will have to read thoroughly.
You maybe able to negotiate a lower tariff for 1-2 months but I doubt it during peak season.

61st time in Goa,I rented a studio apartment:AC/cable/hot water shower& western toliet.7000Rs
No one asked me for a deposit....No one asked me for rent...I had to ask, twice to pay the man...That is 7000Rs per month.
I looked around and found a house, after only 1 month.I moved in....No one asked me for a deposit or for rent for 4 months. The house:2Bd,kit/bath,yard..5000Rs/month..I bought the TV..
There are Goan people here in Goa who do not cheat the tourists, though there are a bunch who do.
I would guess that most people who come on LP can not afford 5-6000Rs Per Day.(plus deposit)
There are 1000's of apartments being rented right now.Just have to go out and find one.

7i also suggest going and staying in a hotel for a few days and looking around for an apartment after you get there. it took me one day to find a place to rent for 1 month.... there were a couple places that i liked but ended up going with the very first one i saw! this was not in high season though but seeing how many places there were in hot season-i cant imagine they will ALL be full in high season.
one way we found places was asking hotel owners and bar\restaurant people if they knew of anything.
also-i paid no deposit

8I see "bragg" was created today!.how convenient for the next hate fill, negative, reponse to voices of reason and education.
There are a1000 flats, rooms, what ever ,,that are available right now.I too,am looking for a new place and a better deal.Unfurnished,is all we need.We are talking in the range of 3000Rs to 8000Rs per month....I have been offered a place for 3000Rs/month,right now..I have been here awhile,we get discounts and goans like us...
Let us try to turn this LP into a friendly, advise driven format.
Not a place to spread hateful, self righteous, predujious And answer every question as if you
Know It All.PLease .lets not be a mean, vengeful, know it all.
P.S.:::5-7 Hotels cost 14,0006000Rs -a day.

10But fivejacks Loswillberforce is looking for furnished holiday rentals over the peak season and this is where the price differs from long term furnished / unfurnished long term rentals. You also have to take the location into account, the closer to the coast the more expensive, it's true you can rent an apt for say £30 a night but that would be for a one bed / studio, add on a communal pool + other facilities like a UPS / generator and the price goes up. If your looking for complete privacy you will have to pay higher because they will probably have staff and security,
#8 You would not have had to pay a deposit because it was low season, like I said they are for last minute cancelations amongst other things, usually 10 / 20% of the standard weekly rate and is refundable within a period after departure, just in case they find out you've dismantled the plumbing or something.
