question regarding passports for visas

Hi everybody,

Let's figure this situation (real for people I know): a group of people think about travelling to Iran in 2013, and two of them have Israeli stamps in their passports. They have to get a new passport, or a special one valid only for that travel (the only options given by the National Authorities of such people). In theory, with a "clean" passport, there should be no problem getting the Iranian visa .... or yes.

Apparently, Iranian authorities (who really give permission for the visa), in such situation -a totally new passport, or one issued for a short period of time-, might suspect that those people were in Israel and are trying to cheat them, so, just in case, they refuse the visa por those people.

The National Authorities do not offer other solutions.

Does anybody know if that's true? With a totally new passport (especially passports with a short validity period) Iran authorities are veyr likely to refuse the visa permission? Does anybody know real cases of the above situation?

Thanks a lot for your help and advice!!!

Kind regards

T. E.

hi.

i have no idea what a 'visa-with- a- short validity period' is. never heard of it. at least the iranian govt does not issue such a passport to general public.
i would say get a new 'regular/ordinary' passport and apply for iran visa through an iran-based travel agency. keep it simple and u will be fine. the fact that u have a new passport with no stamp should not make it harder for you to get iran visa. good luck. amir in tehran.

People get new passports all the time without having been to Israel. Passports do get lost, stolen, expire, are full (no more space for new visa means you need a new one) or you have just never had one before. Having a new passport is not suspicious. But I wouldn`t put it past the Iranians to use google or to check facebook - so I`d clean all records in the internet about Israel visits (if there are any that could be connected with your real name).

Hello T.E
There is no necessity to get a new passport .According to the rules those clients who have travelled to Israel can apply for Iran visa provided that the date of their travel to Israel be 6 months to 1 year before the time of their applying .

Hi there,

Thanks so far for your comments.

People with Israeli stamps on their passports can get Iranian visa? really? Do you have any reference where this can be verifed, please? In Lonely Planet says that it's impossible.... so everywhere checked so far.

Kind regards,

T.E.

Who are these National Authorities? What passport are you using? USA?
If your passport is unsuitable, damaged, expired or duration remaining is not long enough, just get a new one. Nothing wrong with having a new, empty passport.

"Apply for" doesn't mean the same as "receive".

See this thread.

T.E.: I wouldn't be banking on the assumption that Iran will dish out visas to those with Israeli stamps in their passport if I were you...!

'Israel evidence' in passport = no visa for Iran. Period.

Totally false, or at least that was not my experience.

I went to Israel in April, 2010. Then the following year I decided to go to Iran. Since of course my chances of getting an Iranian visa with an Israeli stamp on my passport were absolute zero, I got a new one and my visa was issued. Well, I did have problems with the Iranian travel agency but that is another story.
