Applying for Visa Online with unknown arrival point and date

Hey Friends! I'm applying for an Indian Visa (http://india.travisa.com/ApplicationSelector.aspx?CountryID=IN&PartnerID=TA) however I'm not sure if I'll be arriving by plane from Nepal->Dehli or by land from Nepal to the Indian border. The application asks for the entry point and an expected date of arrival...neither of which I know for sure yet (arriving sometime in April '13)

Any advice if I need to do this in advance or if it's easy to do while I'm in Nepal?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hi

Indian visas can be applied for in Kathmandu; see the website of the official outsourced agency Nepal SBI.

It might be worth stating your nationality and how long you want to stay in India so others can give further advice...

Most seem to prefer on arrival with the appropriate form filled in advance. I doubt they take entry date and location very seriously anyway..

Ahhh, yes my nationality would help. USA - looking to stay about 2-months.

One of my roommates who applied for his Indian Visa in Kathmandu said it was a 3+ day wait and a lot of hassle to apply for it there, however that was 5 years ago. How difficult is it to apply in Kathmandu?

Post 7 on this thread describes the process - it takes longer than 3 days.

As a US national would it not be better to get a 5 or 10 year visa at home which might not cost that much more than the short one on offer in KTM? No experience or further knowledge - just some info gleaned from on here, others will be along soon...

I'll be flying to Indonesia on Sunday, so I'm not sure if I can get my Indian visa through the US...might be too late.

Indian visa application form contains a great deal of detailes that are obsolete and nonapplicable from the point of view of most visitors. One that I recall were the dates of my last visit and the visa number. How possibly could I remember that, if I had it my old passport? Also, addresses and phone numbers of places where I intended to stay - I just filled in fake names if it was required to get it through their computer software.
Indian visa doesn't specify the point of entry either. The only exact information, apart from your name, are the dates of issue and expiry.
So, don't take the bureaucratic procedure too seriously and fill in what you think is most appropriate and probable.

As Fieldgate states, just fill in all of the boxes or you will confuse the jokers approving your visa.
I doubt you can get a 5-10 year visa from KTM.Just 6-months.Dress nicely.Leave your dreadlocks, drums, and bong at the hotel when you apply and pick up visa...haha
