New Cheaper French SIM CARD
I recently learned there is a new cheaper SIM card available in France. Last time I paid about 35c/minute for calls within France with ORANGE and SFR sim cards. The new sim card I read about is named B&YOU. What's cool is that local calls are just 10c/minute and the card does not quickly expire. Just one paying call a year keeps it--and your phone #--active. Of course, it may be too good to be true. Therefore can anyone out there who has had one answer the following questions?:--Is it really too good to be true and what's the catch?
--Is the reception decent most everywhere in mainland France?
--Can you buy the B&YOU sim cards and top-up almost anywhere: Tabacs, cell-phone stores?
--Can I have a friend buy one for me and send it to me in the States or do I have to buy it in France? Might be nice to know my # ahead of time.

Yes, I read French. It requires an i.d. I have a US passport but then it requires a French address and phone number. I live in the States. Good to know you can reload it in 50,000 locations. I'm hoping the card is easy buy once in France. At least in cell phone stores.6
Hello michand1,My experience on this topic might help you out.
I used LeFrenchMobile for my trip in the South of France. I absolutly loved the service they provided to me (The rates, the coverage, the customer service).
You might want to check on the paying and delivery options on the B&you sim, as far as I am concerned, LeFrechMobile is the only company that allows paying with a credit card that is not French and also the only one to deliver outside of France.

Richiavo -- in Canada incoming calls on cell phones are also charged for. Don't know about the States.9
Thanks for the heads up.Never thought of giving a hotel address/phone number. Good idea. I suppose they might keep the the mail for you. But maybe having a friend in France buy it for you--with your name, i.d., etc--might be easiest, I suppose. I knew you can add money as you go with top-up cards in Tabacs, or by credit card on-line. I'm just wondering if you can buy the SIM cards in mobile shops the way it's possible for SFR and ORANGE.
B&YOU is very cheap per minute compared to what I paid previously with ORANGE and SFR. I think one "catch", though--if it can be considered one--is that B&YOU can only be used in France.
But no one has told me how coverage is. Acceptable?

JaneyD ...You can buy the sim from a phone shop without having a French address.
Worth saying that B&You are cheap for those resident in France (I have the €19.90 sim here) provided you have an unblocked phone.
If you are travelling it is not so good. When I go to UK I top up an Asda sim for internal calls and a lebara sim for ringing UK to France.
