Florianopolis questionsHello !
Me and my boyfriend are currently in beautiful Paraty and we are heading down to Florianopolis soon - in about 1 week. I have a couple of questions for you:
1) As we e have 10 days, do you recommend we split up our stay, e.g. staying on 2 different parts of the island? Or even off the island? We like surfing, hiking, swimming, snorkelling, body-boarding.
2) We are looking for a non-party hostel on the island, which has double-rooms. (we are a little too old for dorms!) Ideally a small-ish place, near the beach (surfing). Obviously a nice, inexpensive Pousada would be great too!
Thank you so much for your help!

2Since you like hiking, don't miss the Lagoinha do Leste trail on the southern part of the island.
Lagoinha do Leste is a beautiful untouched beach with a little lake and native vegetation. It is only reachable by hiking trails.
The beach can be reached by two different trails. I suggest you take the one that leaves from Matadeiro beach, which is more beautiful because you will walk along the rocks and view the sea while you hike.

3Yes, agree with #1, stay somewhere central like Lagoa. There is a central bus station for most of the buses along the coast as well as going back to Floripa (shopping if needed). Alternatively you can rent a car, best way to explore Island. Check out Praia Mole (nearby), 100% surf beach.
If you can't find any decent rooms for rent, and if you have a car, there are some mid-range pousadas/hotels along the lake road (just south of bridge from Lagoa towards Praia Mole) that have weekly rentals, ask for a deal if it is not high season.

6A car would make your life much easier, since Florianópolis public transport isn´t great and the distances are big. Besides, with a car it´s easier to make day trips, like to Guarda do Embaú, one hour away by car and one of the best beaches I´ve been to.
In my opinion, 10 days can be too much for Floripa, therefore, you should also consider spending a couple of days in nearby cities, like Balneário Camboriú (party place), Bombinhas or São Francisco do Sul.
