Got pickedpocketed - Be careful in BarcelonaHey all,
I cannot stress this enough. I got pickpocketted in Barcelona, not even in a tourist area.
I was walking up Carrer Balmes on my way up from the gym and stupidly I had my bag open and some guy was following me. I thought not to be paranoid and carry on. Anyway I get home, realise the bag is open and the phone gone :(
I have been reading up and trying to find tips on staying safe:
Please, please, please take extra care in this city. It won't be violent, but they are so quick and good.

5When you have a problem on the road, don't freak out. You have experience traing. And learn to ask yourself,"Whats the lesson in this?"
Cops can't help us. Police reports are only good for insurance claims.
Pickp/snatchers hand off the goodies to a mate. Its just gone.

8Maybe its like a pigeon cra.. on your head. Everybody around you claps (in Spain at least). Its suppose to bring you good luck.
In OP's case...it means you're no longer a greenhorn.
I started wanting to learn,
after ignoring a warning.
In all my 49 years of world wanering, I've only been robbed 4 times.
I got no bitches comming.

9Anybody knows of any organisation that helps travellers in trouble in Barcelona? All I have found is www.callforhelp.es but it does not look very professional.

13As always substitute any major world capital or regional capital for the word Barcelona and the same rules apply. I stopped a canute trying it on on the Kings Cross underground escalator in London two years ago. He was in front of me and was trying to relieve a gormless looking tourist of the contents of her small back pack, which was on her back rather than around her front. I just shouted out 'thief at work', 'thief at work' and he did a runner. Not suggesting you're gormless, OP, but you pretty much asked for it. Lesson learnt, I'll bet. :-)
