Visa from abroad?
A lot has changed in Myanmar since I last went there in 2006!I arrive in Bangkok on Friday night. I used to get my Visa from the Myanmar Embassy there. I don't have much time so I don't think it's an option to wait until Monday to apply and then wait however many days.
Is there a way for me to do this online in advance from Canada?
Before I used to bring USD into the country and exchange it from a money dealer at aprox 1200 kyatt per $1.00
Has the currency and pricing changed significantly?
Budget hotels used to run me $15 per night.....A bit more in Yangon. Still the same?

You're having a Giraffe.Seriously though, for what it's worth I think you've left it far too late, some of these 'online' visa services can take a week so I reckon only option is first thing Monday morning in BKK and forking out 1300 or so Baht for a same day service.
US$ 1 approx 830kyat.
US$15 per night in high season probably equates to Zero chance.

Good Luck, if you mean that it's this coming Friday night you are arriving. Your only option is to start queuing at the Embassy at 7am Monday and pay for a same day service. You will need to bring in near pristine US$ and the official and black market rate is around 830-850 kyat per dollar. You won't find accommodation in Myanmar for $15 a night in November, actually, let me rephrase that; you won't find accommodation in Myanmar, full stop. The whole country is booked out and there are backpackers sleeping on the streets. But really, you may have to seriously look at some top end hotels or really scour around for some undocumented Guesthouse. Accommodation will be a headache.4
The express online "visa on arrival" service I found was 7 days (http://www.myanmarvisa.com/ - $100CAD), so as stated, your only viable option is Bangkok same day.5

So it looks as if I can apply from abroad. Can someone please reccomend a reliable site?
Or if I don't mind paying the cash, technically I could buy a visa on a Monday and then fly out Tuesday or Wednesday?
As for accommodation. I never thought I that. Obama going there and now all of a sudden there is an influx of tourists.

So what will a budget hotel run me nowadays? From what I remember $15 got a pretty nice budget place.
Not no more I guess! But in 2006 we didn't see very many tourists.

Phew, mid Feb you say. If your in Canada you could apply there, failing that, I'd still go for the BKK option.As for accommodation, thing's may have eased off a LITTLE by then. I'm off there the first week in Feb and I've been booking accommodation since last month although I will be 'winging it' in a couple of places.
For 'pretty nice budget place' you could well be paying US$30 upwards.
Just as a ballpark figure, I did a quick check on Agoda for Downtown Yangon in mid Feb and they indicate a room at May Shan for $45.
Motherland Inn's website indicates US$22 minimum for a single and US$25 for a double but doesn't say if they're available.
