Next summer

Next summer I am considering travelling a section of the Trans-Siberian railway spending days in some of the Cities en route. Thus far my journey plans are:
Novosibirsk
Omsk,
Tobolsk (I appreciate this is not on the Trans Siberian)
Yekaternburg.

How many days would you recommend in each City? I am happy to do excursions from each city. I would like to go into the Urals to do some walking, is this possible from Yekaternburg? Would you suggest any alterations to the above route?

I can speak Russian, although it's a little rusty at the moment.

Thanking you in advance.

What is your reason for choosing Novosibirsk? As it isn't high on too many people's list I am not sure that I would spend too much time there. I've been twice, each time for a day.

There is some hiking near the Eurasian border which is near Yekaterinburg but it isn't great.

Two nights one full day is probably max needed for Tobolsk.

there are a couple of interesting museums in novosibirsk, like the Siberian Birch Bark Link Name

and and Museum of Archeology and Ethnography. Link Name

and several others. Besides, there is something to see around the city. I'd recommend at least one full day.
I'd recommend the same fo Omsk, and maybe 2-3 days for Yekaterinburg if you also want to see the surroundings, or longer, if you want to do some hiking. I can recommend this guide: Link Name
