Travelling from Saigon into and around Cambodia

I am planning to go to Cambodia next April and will be coming from Saigon. Can anyone suggest a good route and the best ways of travelling? I have about 10 days in total. At the moment I am thinking about going by bus from Saigon to Phnom Penh, then to Kampot, then Sihanoukville, back to Phnom Penh, then by boat to Siem Reap. Is there any way of doing it without having to go through Phnom Penh twice?

Any advice greatfully received!

Not really, and the boat from PP to SR can be a very bad trip except maybe in the wet season when the water is high.

Why not go into Mekong Delta and then across to Kampot no need to go to PP.

Personally, I am not a big fan of the PP - SR speedboats; they are noisy and for most of the time you won't see much.

If you have the money, you could fly directly from Sihanoukville to Siem Reap.
