What is a taxi? I'm on a low budget!! Haha. Finally I've booked beach hut in Arambol for 5 nights 450 rupees per night. Then in Palolem beach hut for 800 rupees per night (for two nights) with bath and mozzie net. Only I need a guest house in Panaji for the first night... the 5th December.

Only because I don't want to go to arambol from Karmali station so late in the afternoon.. so many buses. So I stay one night in Panaji and next day, to Arambol.

Worth at least 300, lucky you're not paying 1000.

You could also go straight to Arambol and spend a night in Panaji on the way to Palolem. There was much less accommodation in Panaji so it's harder to find somewhere cheap - in the end we found a GH for 350 R but this was off season - prices depend on how many tourists are around. Old Goa was moderately interesting and I liked the market in Panaji but there wasn't too much else to see there.

Pernam was the closest train station to Arambol but no public transport. I think Thivim is closest if you want to take public transport (bus to Mapusa and then to Arambol).

Take a train from margao along the konkan rly to karnataka(karwar).one hour from margao

it is much cheaper there

You can stay with athat budget at Udupi (5 hours from margao ,one hour from mangalore)=-rooms around 600 and food within rs 200(indian) in good hotels

Goa is a tourist destination so you will get ripped off
