I pad
Does anyone remember if they have to declare their i pad to customs when entering Myanmar ? also mobil phone .I know they wont work there but will be travelling with them .Many thanks3
On my way back from Myanmar. Nobody gave a toss that I had an IPad, MacPro, GPS, pretty serious camera equipment or a stash of Khat. And there is more and more WiFi coming up.4
It was quite painless and quick arriving at Yangon airport. No search of bags, so should be able to bring anything in, and change $100 or $200 at the first money counter that you see after immigration as you can then safely store away your large wad of Kyat in the quiet airport before venturing out to the crowd of taxi drivers, tour operators, guides etc.6
I am writing to you now on an I pad in my hotel bedroom in bagan. Had wifi in hotel bedroom in Yangon, and my experience is that it is fast and reliable. Also had 2 mobile phones with us. As said above we just cleared queue checking visa and then enter hall where you can change what must be crispy unmarked or folded dollar or euro notes. Then you go by the customs man who only wants the paper you filled in on the plane before you arrive. No searches or questions and then you are there! Just get the taxi into town for 10 dollars. (currently 843 kyats to dollar as at 16 November.) or you can pay in kyats. Have a great time, we are.ADVERTISEMENT
