Safety of travel from Egypt to Israel (From Cairo/Suez to Taba border)

Hello everyone,

we're two girls planning to travel from Egypt to Israel in the first week of December. I'm aware that the security situation in Sinai and Israel are changing quickly, but if anyone has any recent experiences or impressions of how safe it actually is to travel from Cairo to Israel by bus, crossing by the Taba border, I would be extremely grateful for any input you might have!

Are there any greater dangers traveling on the road from Suez to Taba? Or any other considerations we should keep in mind?

Thanks so much!

Welcome, It is safe. The incidents have occured farther north, closer to the border, than you'll travel on the way to Taba.

For reasons other than safety I recommend you take a shared taxi though, rather than the bus. There are always people looking to share a taxi on that route and the taxi is faster and more comfortable. If there are three or four of you it's not much more expensive either.

Good luck.

We travelled this route by local bus from Taba to Cairo a few years back, the whole trip was smooth and took about 7 hours on East Delta Bus ,the problems there in Taba was over a decade ago.

And why don't you book a trip through a travel agency? It's much more safe than travelling alone. It's organized and you'll feel more secure. I've heard from my friend working in Egypt that there're buses with tourists traveling to Israel every day, they even visit Bethlehem (which lies in Palestine) and there haven't been any problems so far. If you'd like I'll give you a contact for a travel agency in Egypt organizing these tours by PM.
