Need help with setting up Travel Itinerary
We have plans to visit Japan in the last week of the year from 23-31 dec, we would like to see Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, and Tokyo in 8 days, our flight will arrive at Narita airport on 23rd at 15:00 and we were thinking immediately after we arrive we take the bullet train out to base our first few days at Osaka, while in Osaka we will take day trips to Kobe and maybe Nara as well, we are planing to stay 3 days in Osaka, on day 4 we will take train to Kyoto and stay there 2-3 days, then spend the last 2-3 days in Tokyo, since the last few days will be new year weekend we think Tokyo will be less busy, and that's what we came up with so far, any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.1
I think you're trying to cram in far too much - effectively you only have 7 nights, so 4 nights in Kyoto and 3 in Tokyo would give you just about enough time to get a feel for these two cities. Personally I don't see the added value of visiting Osaka and Kobe in that case, much as I liked those cities when I was living in Japan, they don't have much to offer that cannot be found in Tokyo or Kyoto. You could consider Nara as a sidetrip from Kyoto if you want.

Fully agree with what Aribo said. Also it could make sense to go to Kyoto last, as temples are open during the New Year holiday, while museums and other sights which you might want to visit in Tokyo are usually not.
