Let me know how your trip goes if you decide to go, AirportInfo. We're still planning our Egypt trip and will only change it if things really shift gears so that it's actually dangerous; we'll just go somewhere else, that's all.

I'm certainly not out to risk life and limb. I have a child, for one thing. So yes, I think about these things carefully and completely, even if I do have a sense of adventure.

One place I get good, recent information from travelers on the ground is by going to travelblog.com and clicking the country I want info about, and then looking at the recent feed. I don't think I can link to it (or really, I don't know). But that's what's caused me most to feel very secure about the safety of Egyptian travel right now. Tourists aren't reporting trouble there, and there are plenty of photos of their travels and reports going up too. Other places have trip reports but usually without photos. That's why I like that one: I can see for myself people standing around Cairo and so on.

I'm back from Egypt. I find it quite safe in normal case. I mean most tourist place are safe.

Egypt is safe, including for Western women travelling or liiving alone. The only problems are related to a rise in theft - handbag snatching, pickpocketing, Southern Europe style. As long as you use your good sense and avoid walking alone on an empty street at 4am or entering a crowd of protesters, you will be safer than in the USA.
