Advice for the South - Goa & Kerala
Hi,I fly from Rajasthan to Goa on 19th November and I'm looking for some advice on cheap places to stay. I will be in Goa for 1 week and then Kerala for 2 weeks.
In Goa I'm thinking of maybe heading to Anjuna & Palolem as I've read they will be busy this time of year. I've been staying in places in the north for about 250-350 rupees per night and wondering if its possible to get accomodation for the same price in the south? Can anyone recommend a good place to stay? Or know of any good hostels / guesthouses with dorms in these areas as I'll be alone and looking to meet some travel buddies.
The same question for Kerala, is cheap accomodation an option here and can anyone recommend anything for Kochin, Alleppey, Munnar and Varkala?
Also, does anyone know the best way to travel from the airport in Goa to Anjuna? How much roughly is a taxi? and are there cheaper options i.e. local bus?
Thanks :)

Check with Anjuna Palms and if they are all booked up perhaps they will give you contact info for some other budget guesthouses in Anjuna.http://www.anjunapalms.com/tariff.html

I am not aware of any direct bus service from Dabolim airport to Anjuna beach area and there is no proper bus stand at Dabolim airport but there are buses on the main road outside of the airport exit and there you will see buses going to places like Vasco, Margao, Panjim and maybe even Mapusa which is close to Anjuna.
Fast and most convenient way of course will be a taxi and I think the current taxi rate from Dabolim to Anjuna is around 1100 rupees. Don't go to the pre-paid taxi booth inside the terminal as their rates are higher instead get out and use the outside pre-paid taxi booth for arranging your taxi.

I liked Red Cab Inn (no dorm but it was a friendly family run place) in Anjuna though for the beach I much preferred Arambol or Vagator.ADVERTISEMENT
