Tourists allowed Aswan-Abu Simbel bus?

I made a reservation inquiry with an Aswan hotel and they responded with much information including the bus schedule between Aswan and Abu Simbel. Are tourists allowed on these buses?

What's the accommodation scene in Abu Simbel? Still just 2 - the luxury hotel and super budget?

Cheers.

I was there a year ago. Tourists were taking the buses then, though we ended up taking an arranged mini-bus. Not sure about accommodation.

Don't know which one you mean with 'luxury' and 'super budget',
but for me the accommodation highlight of Abu Simble is clearly the Eskaleh Lodge
(see http://www.eskaleh.net/)
Price is reasonable, personal service is excellent, rooms are clean & stylish, atmosphere
is very relaxing and top of it: Its run by locals, meaning that the Nubian owner was born
in the original Abu Simble village before Nubia was drowned by Lake Nasser. There
is a 'nubian library' attached where you can linger around while waiting for sunrise/set.
Hence, if you overnight at Abu Simble (which I recommend very much) the
Eskaleh Lodge is the single perfect place to stay.
P.S. They also have a licensed bar/restaurant and offer the best espresso south of Cairo.

Yes, I've seen the Eskaleh's excellent reviews. Problem is I will almost assuredly be alone and I'm not keen on paying 60 euros for a room. That's not what I meant by the luxury hotel (listed in LP) but it might as well be in my case.

Anyway, I emailed them to ask if they'd do a reduced price for one person but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks.

Well this turned out to be somewhat futile as the Eskaleh informed me they charge by the room so I won't be sleeping in ABS. It was going to be too much traveling anyway - arr ASW 11:40 pm then take a bus to ABS next day, see the ruins in the morning and head back to ASW same day after that.

I'll just do the convoy and be happy with that.

Hi Jon,

Can you share the bus schedule information? I plan to stay at Eskaleh (we have 3 people) and am trying to figure out how to get there without getting in touch with an Aswan hotel...

Sure, from Keylany Hotel the bus from Aswan to Abu Simbel leaves at
08:00 am
11.30 am
05.00 pm
05.30 pm

They didn't send the return bus info but I emailed them to ask.
