1st time FEMALE SOLO backpacker- .Looking for places to stay in PHUKET
Hello AllI am planning on visiting Thailand for 3 weeks within this period I will start at Phuket, then I will fly to Chiang Mai and finish my trip in Bangkok.
I have never travelled completely alone, well actually I have just completed a year of Teaching in South Korea. However I do not really consider this as travel. As I signed a contract before I left the UK, so everything was sorted.
Being new to travelling I have many questions- I'm starting with Phuket so (Sorry in advance)
• *Phuket- Places to stay? Backpacker Friendly areas to stay?
I have booked my flight I just wanted to book somewhere to sleep for a couple of days. I would prefer to be in close proximity other backpackers. Just until I get used to things.
I have a rough idea of things that I want to do. But I am open to suggestions... So if anyone has any suggestions on MUST SEE things in first of all Phuket. Please share:-)

What do you want to spend on a hotel room?Is this place too cheap? (I found this link on another post.)

Phuket isn"t typical "backpacker" place like KSR in Bangkok. If you are party girl, stay at notorious Patong beach. If you like beaches, you have many, Kata Noi is beatiful, but nothing going on at nights. Research.Rent a mbike, explore, Phuket isn"t big and tuk tuks are expensive, especially at night. But don"t give away your passport.

A good central place to get your bearings is inexpensive squeaky clean Phuket Backpackers' in Phuket town. Has a great common room where people meet to watch dvds and shoot the bull, a 7/11 two doors up, plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, a fresh food market across the street, songthaews for the beaches and a lot of other island locations stopping a few more doors up and a very good travel desk where I get ferry tickets etc cheaper than most places outside.I always use it as a first base off the aircraft or bus (another coming up in a fortnight) and quite a few people use it as a longer term base to explore different parts of the island. I personally prefer getting a place at the beaches if I have more than a few days to fill in Phuket.
I notice Agoda is now booking this joint although it may not have the cheaper dorms listed. Google will find the place's own website.
