6 hour stop over in KuwaitI am flying from London to Manila but on the way home I have a 6 hour stop over in Kuwait. How easy is it to got out of the airport and see a tiny bit (4 hours worth) of the country? I will have to be back 2 hours before my flight but I am thinking I could jump in a taxi and head...well where?
Is there an entry or exit fee and do I have to pay for a visa? I am a UK national.
Thanks in advance

1It's easy to get out and get a taxi into town. You need to queue up for a visa but for UK nationals it's free. You could ask the taxi to take you to Kuwait Towers, by the sea. It's not the most exciting city in the world but a short taxi tour beats sitting in the airport for six hours.

2...and if you're trying to save money beyond getting the visa free you can also take bus no. 13 from the airport to the terminus (Liberation Tower bus station) for a bargain 250 fils. The trip can take up to an hour and will bring you right into the city centre and souq area. The Kuwait Towers, however, are far from that location. By contrast, a taxi ride from the airport and back will cost you several dinars, and as you probably know one dinar may not sound much but is actually a shitload of money.
Once you have your visa, head downstairs to the immigration counter area, but take the exit (turnstile) on the far left. No need to queue at the actual counters (which may have endless lines of arriving migrant workers) because you already have a stamp in your passport (from the visa counter). Show this to the guys in uniform who hang around the turnstile area. And keep the A4 sheet with your visa information safely. You need to surrender this when you exit the country.

4#2, is that airport bus a fairly regular, scheduled service? Or more like something that only runs every couple of hours?? Leaves from right in front of the terminal or outside?
Thanks for all the other info too, I'm going to Kuwait soon so all really useful.

The LP chapter on Kuwait says that the bus is every half an hour and leaves from just outside arrivals at the airport.
Not sure how reliable this is so it would be good if someone could confirm.

8Yes, was quite easy in the end, with a drawback being knowing where to get off, seeing i was staying with a friend out in the suburbs, as well as it being slow going. But still much cheaper to take the bus most of the way into town, then switch to a taxi (2kd max) to your final destination. I did see bus #51, but wouldn't know which part of the city it goes to.
Bus #15 is useful too for connecting Kuwait city centre to Salmiya.
