Where to go for Christmas around Rio?

Hi!

We, 3 chicks, 30 years old, have booked a flight to Rio from 16-30 december. We are wondering where to spend Christmas. We still love to party: full-blown raves, but enjoy relaxed drinks with some music just as much. We were thinking about Ilha Grande or Buzios. I read that Rio itself is kinda deserted over Christmas. Or are there special parties/events in Rio for Christmas. Anyone experience with this? Any advice will be appreciated! Thanx in advance.

Tess

Christmas is a holiday Brazilians spend with family. I'm sure many would appreciate a yummy roasted chick for Christmas dinner along with their favorite drinks and music.

Not an expert, but there is definitely some stuff happening. Stevie Wonder will give a concert on the beach: http://www.lastfm.es/event/3413263+Stevie+Wonder+at+Praia+de+Copacabana+on+25+December+2012
