I read some threads re travel in N Africa and would like to ask you ...
I am going to Morocco 3-13 December (itinerary is fixed>briefly: Marrakech-Todra-Erg Chigaga-Tiznit-As-Sawíra-Marrakech with a group, cca 170km a day by 4x4). I would like to travel on my own before or after that and see at least Chefchaouen (or mayby I could leave it out in favour of Algeria) and then I don't know - thinking of additional 2 to 3 weeks.
Is there anything more in Morocco not to be missed or maybe I could go to Algeria then? Could you possibly give me a hint as where to go for those 14-21 days (woman alone, speak Eng,Spa,Ger; no Fre or Arab)?
My budget incl. travel cost, meals, accommodation, entrance fees etc. is 50 USD/day max. Interests: culture, history, oases, desert...-no bars, discos etc.
Is going to Algeria a reasonable option to go after Morocco or should I see more Moroccan towns instead? Any national parks I should not miss? I would preferably like to see something different in Algeria than I will have seen in Morocco (sorry, I realise how ignorant it sounds). What should I not miss from Algeria? And what is the easiest and most cost-efficient option to get to Algeria given my time and money budget? I read that you need a guided tour for the south of Algeria (really no other option?), but how far south is it safe from "probable trouble region" and will I be able to afford it with this budget?
Oh, and a guide book you'd recommend?
Any info you could share would be appreciated! Thanks a lot

2I have searched and I know the border is closed but can take a flight or ferry (Algesiras-Oran should be cheapest...is it? Is there a ferry directly from Morocco?) can't I?

3Is there a ferry directly from Morocco?
AFAIK, there isn't.
ferry (Algesiras-Oran should be cheapest...is it?
AFAIK, there aren't ferries from Algeciras to Algeria. There are ferries out of Almería that would, probably, be your best bet if you want to make it by ferry. I suggest you to look for prices of ferries. A ferry from Morocco to Spain plus a ferry from Spain to Algeria won't be cheap...
can take a flight
Yes, there are direct flights out of Casablanca.

4Morocco is best enjoyed at a nice slow pace. Todra to Chiggaga in day is too much. Off road it is a no no, and Todra to Zagora is more than enough in a day. It is a stunning off road drive over the mountains to Nekob when you can choose on or off road for the second half.

5Thank you all for your input. I fell ill before my journey, so I didn't get to replying to you for some time. Because I had too little time to prepare my trip to Algeria and also other circumstances do not allow me to spend as much time planning for the journey, I decided to leave Algeria for later when I have more time to do it and study some French before I go :-) So, it's Italy and Morocco "only" this year, which is not bad either.
