Staying in people's homes
Hi,I was wondering if you could help. I'm sure I found a link on this site for staying in people's homes for a few nights or a week or so but I'm struggling to find it again. I'm currently renting a room in different hostels but it's becoming expensive and I think I might prefer to occasionally stay in people's homes. I remember the site showed the price per night (or week?) and had a little bit of information about the home owner. Does anyone know the site I might be thinking of?
Thank you in advance,
Emma

www.airbnb.com.au?
There are some listings, for $30 a night in Sydney, but it does not show any cheaper than that.
You (OP) don't say which city you are in right now.

Not sure where I've posted this post but I'm in New Zealand.
Thank you

Still quite expensive for staying in people's houses. It's .com but you can type in Auckland NZ and 300 odd properties come up
$$$$$$$ still have to be paid though.

Some places on bnb are asking for $80 a night. Some are asking $150.
I tend to go for $120 a night in hotel accom, maybe $80 is fair, but $150?
Point taken that maybe $150 is for the places in areas where there are no hotels, close to bush etc, and where people would pay to stay.
But if the OP is paying $35 a night now, and there is nothing on bnb for lower than say $50, maybe its more worth it paying $35 for the hostel dorm bed.
Addendum: OP will need to change the Aud$ to Nzd$ though, it seems to want to list in Aud$.

Addendum: OP will need to change the Aud$ to Nzd$ though, it seems to want to list in Aud$.that will be because either you are on the australian site rather than airbnb.co.nz, and/or you have in the past told them that you are in Australia and want your prices in Australian$.
Without having specific examples it is impossible to say whether these people are asking too much or not. I'd also not be surprised if you are seeing a weekly rate and thinking it's for one night, or seeing a listing for a whole flat or house rather than just a room. Also some are bed & breakfast. I looked at a lot of airbnb listings for central Wellington and didn't find any of them unusually expensive; instead they seemed to be quite good value.
I don't think you've got any basis for making such a general comment as 'still quite expensive' about the entire site.

Actually this is not sufficient to explain it. So update more about this type of homes.Where one can stay for few nights and days at affordable rates.______________
