Thailand-Cambodia itinerary sense check please?

Dear all,

I am planning to travel to Thailand and Cambodia from Mid-Dec for 13-15 days. Please can you review this itinerary and let me know if it makes sense? Anything I should be taking out/adding in? (I know about the tiger temple debate but I absolutely do want to see the Tiger Temple - I spent about 4 years of my early 20s researching wild cats and am keen to see what makes them so domesticated and out of nature there):

Day 1 and Day 2: Bangkok (Dec 15 and 16)
Day 3:Bangkok-Mekhala Cruise (Dec 17)
Day 4: Mekhala-Ayuthaya-Kanchanaburi (Dec 18)
Day 5: Kanchanaburi: Tiger Temple, Elephant camp (Dec 19)
Day 6: Return to Bangkok, onwards to Krabi (Dec 20)
Day 7: Krabi/Koh Phi Phi (Dec 21)
Day 8: Krabi-Bkk-Phnom Penh (Dec 22)
Day 9: Phnom Penh (Dec 23)
Day 10, 11, 12, 13: Siem Reap (Dec 24, 25, 26, 27)
Day 14: Return to Phnom Penh and Departure (Dec 28)

Total: 13 days. We can extend this by 1 more day in Krabi and 1 in Bangkok each.

Do you think the train ride over the river Kwai is all that its made out to be? I have seen that movie about 8 times since my childhood...and the whole story has now lost its charm for me.

Do you think this is a sensible itinerary? Should I take a flight from BKK-Krabi and back? Is there a flight option from Kanchanaburi to Krabi direct? Does Kanchanaburi have an airport?

Thanks!!!

Sorry but this totally makes no sense, you are in transit everyday except for BK & Siem Reap. Way too rushed.

yeah... that is a screwed up itinerary... cut out thye ayuthuya thing... if you are spending 4 days at angkor wat... ayathuya will pale in comparison.... and the tiget camp... I never liked that..and especially a one day trip way out there and back???

Unless youʻre a World War II-history buff the all day trip to Kanchanaburi isnʻt worth the time.

While I think one needs at least 3+ days to see Siem Reap your travel plans, as other have mentioned, is scattered. A lot of your time will be in transit in tour buses and long airport waits.

Concentrate on Thailand; Iʻd be sure to add Chiang Mai to your list.

Thanks guys. I'll look up Chiang Mai - is it mostly trekking?

with limited time you really need to work out what you want to see and do and plan a sensible route there is no shortage of things to see and do

take the extra time and consider a beach nearer Bangkok
