Hotel Las Vegas in Cartagena

Hi All,

We're going to be in Cartagena on Dec. 18 - 20, and we're looking for budget accommodations for 2 people. We aren't necessarily looking for a hostel, but we can do that if it's the best deal. We heard Hotel Las Vegas was good, but the recommendations were from a while ago. Has anyone stayed there recently? How much does it cost? I saw one person say $20 a night, but that was in 2009. Does anyone know how to make a reservation there from abroad? I'm afraid if we show up in Cartagena without reservations during that time of year we won't be able to find a cheap place. If anyone has other recommendations, we'd love to hear them. (If you have the price you paid, that's even better).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Christine

We stayed at la Magdalena in getsamani. It was great for us, quiet, and a good price. We paid around 20,000 per person I think? We are a family of four. You can book them at hostel bookers I think.

You'll have a good choice of budget hotels in Getsemani. Significantly nicer and less money than you would pay in El Centro. About a 15 minute stroll from Hotel Las Vegas. Such places as La Magdalena, Casa Baluarte, San Roque and Villa Colonial. You may be able to negotiate a better price for multiple nights, or if you show up in person. You may want airconditioning.

Buen viaje!

Thanks for the responses! I did see Villa Colonial in my prior research--do you know if their single ensuite with fan can sleep 2 people (i.e. a couple), or is it only for one person? I couldn't tell from the website, and I haven't yet received a response from them to my email asking that question. I also took a look at La Magdalena, but I haven't researched Casa Baluarte or San Roque yet. Will take a look at those next. Thanks!

No, sorry, I don't know about the single ensuite bed size in Hotel Villa Colonial.

Buen viaje!

FYI - Villa Colonial got back to me and said the single ensuite is only for one person. Thanks again for the resources!
