Dislike smiling faces

As the world becomes increasingly commercized, the more I dislike smiling faces, I don't even like to smile anymore. Are there any places in this world for people like me who don't focus on appearances?

I grew up in a really commercialized country, Singapore, where most smiling faces are meant for manipulation. I am really sick of it. There's not forests or mountains in Singapore to escape to.

"smiling faces meant for manipulation?"

Sounds like a common denominator of really major urban areas. If you want to travel to new and foreign places but still feel at home, try NYC, Chicago, London Moscow, heck in Paris waiters are famous for being arrogant.

I like waiters in certain parts of Europe in the sense that they are very real. When they are in bad moods, they will probably go like:" Go away. I don't want your money".

If they are in good moods, they might even give you freebies.

Of course I do, but I don't consider the OP thread as being a genuine impression, it's a generalization. I do not agree that all smiles in Singapaore are manipulative (I've been there); no generalization holds true, and it does not hold true for smiling faces elsewhere in the world. There will always be the manipulative smiles, shady/scamming smiles, and genuine friendly smiles. Maybe I'm just lucky, I run into genuinely friendliness and the accompanaying big smiles when travelling a lot more than the other sort. Lumping them in one negative basket is downright silly and to do so makes one appear tunnel-visioned and intolerant.
