Stolen Passport- Do I Need Thai Visa?
Hi People,It's like this-
1. I'm a Canadian citizen
2. Going from Cambodia to Thailand, my passport was stolen.
3. I've now got a new passport- it's a 'Temporary Passport' that I have exchange for a 'Permanent Passport' in Bangkok.
4. My Temporary Passport is valid from 7 November, 2012 until 7 November, 2013. (But I mention in passing that I have exchange for a 'Permanent Passport' in Bangkok within a 15 day to 60 day time frame- no problem.)
5. Here's my question- since my passport is 'Temporary' which makes it kind of special, do I have to get a Thai visa from the Embassy in Phnom Penh? With my regular passport, the one that got stolen, I'd just show up and get stamped in for 30 days. Does anyone know if the same situation applies with my 'Temporary Passport?'
THANKS PEOPLE

Thanks for your kind reply. The first thing I did after I got my temporary passport was to go to Cambodian Immigration out by the airport. They're closed today. It's a holiday.
I'm stuck here for the weekend, I have to go back on Monday.
Oh well. This time next week I'll be in Pattaya, chillin' :)
Thanks again.
I agree with your logic about the Canadian passport- even though it's temporary, it's still valid for the timeframe involved.
And I don't think the Cambodians would give me an exit visa if they knew I was going to be denied admittance to Thailand.
Peace!

Oh, I feel for you. I have had 2 passports go missing before. I also ran out of pages recently and had to get a new one.Make sure your Cambodian visa is in order. The rest should be fine. Enjoy Thailand!

Defo go to Cambodian Immigration and check this on Monday (and get the name of the person who provides assurances there so you can quote them if a further issue arises), though I see no reason why they shouldn't let you exit into Thailand, nor why you should have trouble entering Thailand. Lots of people have presumably had this issue before because stolen bags is a real issue in PP.
