Outdated message gives impression Thai visa is still free by post?
I recently contacted the Royal Thai Consulate in Montreal. As they never respond to e-mails or phone messages it took me a while to get the right info... The information is pretty basic, $40 for a single entry visa - 60 days - when you apply in person. etc. But the recorded message also says that as of May 2010 you can apply by mail (recommended time 3 weeks before by express post - it is free. The recorded message also invites you to leave a message or send an e-mail.
Well, I finally managed to get a real person on the phone (she was french canadian) She assured me it it hasn't been free for years. So, when I mentioned the outdated message that gave the impression that it still was free - she started to get angry and raise her voice - saying that no, it hasn't been updated and if I wasn't happy I could go to Ottawa to get it - lol
I know many of these sites have outdated info on them, but you would think I consulate in Canada would surely be able to update a phone message, even if they are open open 2.5 hrs, 2 days a week?

Apparently, the rudeness double-whammy of being in the Thai foreign service and being French completely overcame Canadian politesse.
