I've emailed KK and the other tour people, the KK website is not he easiest to navigate!

If I end up staying say in Paradise Lost, are they quite close? I mean could I get to Ao Niang beach in 15 mins (I believe it's via jungle track but doesnt say how far)? I think I will probably be in and out of the water multiple times throughout the day so makes sense to be close to this beach to nip back for shower etc

It's only about ten minutes walk from Paradise Lost to Ao Niang beach. You almost certainly be fine just turning up and finding somewhere when you arrive.

If you really want to book ahead and don't have any luck anywhere else, try emailing Bill at Kradan Island Resort. Its the other end of the island, but will fix you up for the first night, at least.

I emailed one of those agents from the thread you posted the other day and got a very helpful reply back offering to book the huts and the boat/bus! Brilliant, thankyou! I wouldn't be so bothered if I had time to waste but on a 2.5 week holiday it's a shame to not try and make use of the time, despite hating planning! Seems like a lovely place to be pottering around, someone mentioned a cave too :)

3 years ago i visited Ko Surin and Ko Kradan, both were quite good, however there were some coral bleaching issues in 2010 and it is my understanding that Surins are not as interesting for the snorkeling anymore, refer to tezzas experience form last year.

Thanks, yeah saw a lot of info on Tezzas website which helps a lot along with all the other sources!

The plan so far involves hopefully a days diving in Surins (Richilieu Rock) but will see nearer the time. Similans the same/maybe snorkelling, Lanta for daytrip diving (Hin Daeng and Hin Muang) and Kradan for snorkelling! I have just had the funniest experience of trying to book a hut on Lanta over the phone! Fingers crossed lol
