Sagada and beyond.....
Hi, Ive been traveling north Luzon for about 8 days now, rented a bike in AC and am now in Pagupud at Saud beach. What I'm thinking of doing is traveling down to Tuguegarao and then over to Sagada and out to the coast via Cervantes and the Blessang Pass. I know the road is new from Cervantes to the coast but I'm wondering what the road/best route is from Sagada. Better to go down to Sabangad and west or continue over to Surmadel and out that way? Looking at my maps its probably best to go the Sabangad route provided the road is any good. This is most likely in PIkayakers domain...so any ideas PI? Thanks so much!If its just a bad idea/road, I'll head south through Baguio and back that way.

The Besao-Sumadel-Tadian road is scenic and has almost no traffic, but it is quite rough in parts. Sabangan-Tadian- Cervantes is not all cement (or wasn't last I traveled it) but even the dirt portions are pretty smooth. Tadian-Cervantes is of course the same either way. You'll have to ford the river in Cervantes, as the bridge is still (eternally) under construction. Water shouldn't be too deep, it's been pretty dry lately. To get a bridge you'd have to go south along the Baguio road to Abatan (Buguias), then turn right and go down to Cervantes via Mankayan.Cervantes to the coast is all cement.

Thanks! I'll be a few days yet before I'm in the area, if you hear anything more I'd appreciate it. The owner of the Sunset German Resort in San Juan was telling me about the road but only as a day trip, didn't fit into my plans at the time but this sounds very interesting.5
Just got into Sagada last nite. I did stop in Tinglayan for 2 nites, stayed at the Luplupa Riverside Inn ( PI, Johnny wants his key back!) heheh! Very nice people. Did a day trek through a few villages with a couple American girls, great time had by all! I'm going to head out to the coast tomorrow via Sumadel and Cervantes providing the weather holds.
