For the beach you could head to Langkawi which has decent beaches:

or to a beach in Borneo. The northern coast of Sabah should have good weather:

Alternatively visit some of the islands off Semporna:

Which have great beaches and great snorkelling/diving. However the accomodation on the islands is very expensive unless you stay on Mabul.

Being around Semporna means you are relatively close to the wildlife sites of Danum and Kinabatangan,

I would fly over to Kota Kinabalu on Borneo as this is close enough to Kota Kinabatangan/Sepilok for your onward travel. In addition to the city-life there, you can take a boat to the Abdul Rahman national park (beaches) plus can take trips to hot springs and/or hike the Kota Kinabalu mountain itself.

The beaches of Langkawi and Penang off the peninsular are good too but for convenience and variety, then fly to Kota Kinabalu. For more information, you should find my Malaysia itineraries useful.

I guess it depends what your interests are.
There are plenty of places to visit in and around KL in 6days.
Melaka is worth a visit and can be reached in about 2hrs by bus from KL. Cameron Highlands also worthwhile and takes about 4hrs by bus from KL.
KL itself is also an interesting city.....full of life, easy to get around....good bus/train/monorail system....and lots of good eating.
