Best beach in Phu quoc ?
Hi,We are travelling with our 2 year old daughter Phu quoc around new years eve for 5 days and then staying for 3days in Ho chi min city
Which beach would you recommend in Phu quoc in terms on pristine waters and good snorkelling and decent restaurants
I was thinking to stay in Bai Sao..looks beautiful but a long bumpy ride from the airport and very few hotels /restaurants
If you can send me a pm with any good guesthouses in Phu quoc and HCMC, that you would recommend that would also be appreciated.
Thanks
Nikhil

I was in Phu Quoc a couple weeks ago.We stayed in www.seastarresort.com and I use to walk the coastline every morning and this 'resort' had the best beach front along the whole coast. I even checked out the similar resorts next to this place and they were shocking compared to sea star resort. Up on the street lots of restaurants at night and the rooms are clean with air conditioning and offer bungalows facing a nice garden from about $45 to bungalows right on the sand for $80 a night. They were quite full when we were there so you would probably want to book before you get there. There was also a big hotel resort with pool and all close by but I think you would be looking closer to $300+ a night there, not exaclty sure but you are not right on the beach where at sea star you are.
Good luck ;-)

I've been to Phu Quoc three times in the last two years and still find the main beach south of town to be the most practical. You can hardly call it pristine, but then what little improvement you get on the other side of the island is more than cancelled IMO by the trip to and from, as well as the absence of anything else around. The main beach offers a variety of prices, from the Sea Star (and lower) all the way to La Veranda. Most important (for me) the main beach lets you walk to over a dozen good places to eat and it's the perfect long walk to the night market in town.3
Agree with the above, much easier to base yourself close to Phu Quoc Town and then do a day trip over to Bai Sao. There is a lovely big beach there but not too many options for places to stay. Depends on your budget, but I found a great little guesthouse in the town called Mai Lihn Guesthouse, nice owners, cheap, good rooms..4
Phu Quoc is a good place to go in Vietnam for a relaxing beachside holiday. The key thing is it is handy to HCMC and you don't have to spend half your holiday with cross country tours to find some cr*ppy outfit in the bush.Con Dao is also a great option for Vietnam's best rainforest/beach and snorkeling experience. You can even see turtles . The island has a lot of culture and history.
You could even base a week long or 10 day holiday exploring these islands and the Mekong area.
That way you avoid wasting time travelling to the backblocks.

Hi guys, thanks for all your suggestions..helped make our choice easier..we will probably stay for 3 nights in the beginning at the long beach near the airport and then see if we switch to bai Sao or continue to stay at long beach..Any good recommendations for staying on bai Sao and also in HCMC..please PM me

Mooslie- that is so true. We have planned to visit Phu Quoc after the Mekong, but for a while I was considering replacing Phu Quoc with Koh Rong instead, thinking oh, it's like Phu Quoc before it got developed! Even when I realized what a PITA it would be to get there, I was still convinced it was worth it.. Finally though I decided an extra day on the beach was better than an extra day traveling, or longer if the various bus/boat connections go wrong.9
Hi dears, that nice to enjoy in Phu Quốc but if you dont have much time you also can come to Nha Trang beach, nice as well. In phú quoc , there is : NGỌC DUNG guesthoue a bout $ 20 for per night, TRẦN HƯNG ĐẠO street, on the boat, super đông boat they also sirvice bus ticket to go to the guest house only 25 .000 vnd each instead of you take a taxi more then $ 20., there also few nice restaurant near by.
HAVE A TRIP. ifyou more information can contact with san: 0918 669 236 , or sanhuynhhappy@yahoo.com, or chaudocmekongtours.com.vn.
