Panama- Colombia

Hi am i right in thinking that the only way to go from Panama- Colombia or the other way around is to fly? No overland routes?
Thanks

You can google routes through the Darien Gap- there are plenty of people claiming to make the journey but its a 'risk adventure' as opposed to a 'tourist journey' as there is no official paved route and plenty of gang and drug related activity. You can take a boat as an alternative....

I watched an episode of "locked up abroad" about a person who did it. came out alive, but just barely. I'd say the odds are comparable to summiting everest without supplemental oxygen. I'm talkin sketch sitch, big-time!

You can take a sailboat charter, about $550PP and requires a few days to set up and wait to set sail, 2 nights in San Blas islands, bad boats can be cramped conditions and bad food and unsafe boats/captains, plenty of bad stories on this branch. READ the FAQ for more info.

You also can take a series of busses, small cargo boats and busses, via small villages and on the open sea with no comforts other than a sack a rice to sit on..about $200 and you need a fluid schedule and an open mind, seasicknes pills too...READ the FAQ for more info/

Or fly...

People say they are going to cross the DG on foot but we never hear back, so not sure if they got killed and or chickened out.

I know a guy who did cross the Darien Gap on foot. It doesn't sound like something I would want to try.
