13 days in PhilippinesHello,
Just booked a flight, will arrive the 4th jan in Manila and leave 18th. I've got no knowledge of Philippines before but I know SE asia well.
I know the question been asked a million times before but what route would you suggest if I want some serious beach time, party, meeting people (male, 30 traveling solo), but also some possible trekking, wildlife watching?
Also, anyone else with similar plans that wants to join?

I will suggest to you that a trip to Boracay island for a few days of beach combined with a trip to the north of Philippines around the rice terraces of Banaue and Batad would meet your criteria.
Consider also the possibility,if you have time to visit Palawan island, the last frontier and a beautiful paradise

4You could have your "adventure" time in the north Luzon area. Take a bus from Manila to Baguio (5 to 6 hours-- I would suggest leaving Manila around 12 midnight and maybe you can get lucky and catch day break through the mountains plus travel is faster at night and still safe), then take another bus from Baguio to Sagada. There's spelunking, trekking, waterfalls and rice terraces in Sagada. 3 days would be enough. Go back the same way to Manila. You can even drop by La Union to catch surf if you want. It's about 1 1/2 hours from Baguio and then from La Union you can take a 6 hours bus ride back to Manila. Try to fit Boracay on a weekend since most events happen during the weekends during off-peak season. If you can, Palawan is just beautiful and will give you the best encounters with marine life. If you don't mind spending more time in the north, you can take a bus from Sagada and head to Cagayan valley and do a white water rafting and zipline plus a bigger rice terraces in Banaue.
Enjoy your trip :) Make sure you always have loose change when you commute :)

5Thanks for great all advise. I will look into all this info.
Have any of you dudes been to Malapascua?
Also what do you think about Cebu city and the surrounding islands?
Boracay is probably good for a couple of days party, a weekend like someone said. But Im afraid its a little too touristy for my taste. Come to think of it I don't really need a lot of party, just a couple of nice reggae bars with some cool people to hang out with. Another thing that I value high, maybe most important of all, is being able to interact with the locals.
I'm a long time and frequent user of the Couchsurfing network and will try to use this as much as possible, mainly for meeting locals not for staying at their places.

6Malapascua is much much quieter than Boracay, but has a beautiful beach, not as big as Boracay but just as good IMHO. Maybe spilt your time between the two. As above fly Caticlan to Cebu City then take a bus from the Northern Bus Terminal to Maya, about 4 hours, then short banca ride to Malapascua..

7Malapascua is beautiful, Mactan doesn't even come close but it's kind of hard to commute going there since it's far from Mactan where the airport is. Try the Island tour in Cebu. Really comfy. You can even see some dolphins if you're lucky.

8So the plan so far:
4th friday: arrive in Manila 18.45 - stay at Couchsurfer in Bonifacio Global City
5th saturday: booked flight to Boracay 12.40. Party, chill out. Booked a Bungalow at Frendz resort.
9th: wednesday: flight to Cebu city. Explore the surroundings
13th sunday: flight to Puerto Princesa. Explore the island, climb a mountain, trekk, snorkel etc
17th thursday: Back to Manila
18th Friday: fly home 21.25
What do you reckon?

10Not even 4 days really, take out the flight days and you only have 3. Nowhere near enough to explore Palawan. If it were me I'd do the whole 13 days on Palawan, which is about what you really need to see it. If there was a flight from Caticlan to PP it would make sense to go straight there from Boracay. As it is, hardly seems worth going to Palawan for so little time.

12Thanks for good points.
I think I'll take surfboys advice and take two of the days in Cebu to Palawan, then I'll have 6 days there. El Nido seems like an awesome place and I really want to go there. MIght just stay one night in Puerto princess then straight to El nido stay 4-5 night and explore the surroundings. Is there some hikes around there?
For some reason I got it in my head that Cebu City is a cool place to visit so thats why I thought staying there 1-2 nights to mix with some urban surroundings. Anyone been there?

13Would skip Cebu if you're just going there for the city. The best bits on the island are away from the city. If you're after some urban culture, then you'd be better off spending a bit more time in Manila, then going out of your way to travel to Cebu. If you do spend more time in Manila then you can do a really cool day trip to Taal Volcano to get in some 'adventure time' that you say you wanted. More information on Manila and Taal underneath if you want to consider them.

14To me Cebu City is a place you pass through on the way to the neighboring island destinations, but I guess others might differ.
