Bus between Pantanal and Itaituba/Santarem
After visiting Cristalino in Alta Floresta this Sept (which is dry season), we want to get to Itaituba to visit the Amazonia National Park. Does anyone have bus schedules? I would assume we need to get one bus from Alta Floresta to BR-163, either Sinop, Matupa or Guaranta do Norte, then pick up a trans BR-163 bus to Itaituba.We may even have to change in Novo Progresso.

Basically I want to know if the bus is daily, what time it leaves, how much and about how long in the dry season.
Trip Airlines seems to have cancelled their Alta Floresta-Santarem flight as of 21 Jan 2012.

We returned from this trip last month. There is a bus between Guaranta do Norte and Itaituba/Santarem and costs about R$150 per person and takes 20 hours. Road after Novo Progresso is in rough condition. We left at 20:00 and arrived around 16:00. From Alta Floresta to Guaranta do Norte, there are 3 buses per day to Novo Santa Helena, then you take another bus from there to Guaranta. These were pretty cheap. If you are in Cuiaba, there are buses to Alta Floresta and Guarana. The name of the bus company is Verde Transportes, found on Google. Non Brazilians can't book online with no CPF but it was easy to buy the tickets a few days before at Cuiaba Rodoviaria for all bus segments and they take credit cards.
