fall foliage in Montreal and Quebeci City

Hi All, we're planning early for our 2013 trip to Canada. I've checked various websites, which tend to be either vague or contradictory. When does the fall foliage +usually start in Quebec?
Thanks!

Very hard to predict...second last week of September to second week of October could give you a decent window...

Id tend toward last week of September. October out west (my experience anyways), winter fully hit mid October. At least in September, it should still be relatively warm out east.

First week of October is usually pretty good, remember if you arrive too early you can always drive north for colour.
Arrive too late and you are SOL.

Bonjour Quebec, the province's tourism site, tracks fall foliage, although there's nothing current now since the leaves are all down. http://www.bonjourquebec.com/qc-en/accueil0.html

October 3 at 9:31 PM, plus or minus a few minutes. You can buy a flashlight anywhere.

The last week of September and the 1st week of December are consistently the 2 best ones around Québec City. Montreal can stretch it a bit later. If you are to arrive from the south, like in: driving from the US, I know of places near the border that get peak colours 10 to 15 days prior to that period.

Thanks! We'll try to be there in the last week of September. Fortunately we can be a bit flexible. Seems as if the fall foliage "event" is not only unpredictable but "weird". Looking earlier at New England, parts were in full color while somewhere 30 miles away was green. I guess we'll go just to enjoy the culture/scenery and people.
Cheers

Altitude also plays a role in the timing of the changes of foliage colours: close to/in the Appalachian mountains, on this side of the border, the changes turn up significantly earlier than the rest of the province.
