prague-venice-pragueMy dilemma is this:
My sister who I haven't seen in three years is on a lightning work trip to Venice. I am going to be in Prague. Normally she is in Australia and I am in Central America. So we are closer than we have been in a long time.
So I'm working out if it is feasible to get from Prague to Venice and back again on a reasonable budget. There is a bus that would work for getting there but they don't go every day and the return doesn't work out so well. Train is not an option and there aren't any direct flights from Venice to Prague even if my budget extended that far.
Does anyone have any good ideas for how to get between Venice and Prague. It's not really that far - only about 8 -10 hours by car (according to Google Maps, which might not incorporate things like getting lost and suchlike)....
Looking for inspiration.

3Nope. No direct flights. Only option goes via Brussels with 10 hour stop. Not ideal.

5No direct trains either. It doesn't seem a popular connection. Even Vienna Venice doesn't look good not to mention adding quite a bit of extra distance to the trip.
I'm not interested in the cities in between. I wouldn't be considering going at all if my sister wasn't there.
No-one has any experience with ride share? Or car hire? I'm looking for something a bit out of the box....

You didn't mention in your opening post the travel date(s).
Is it actually in mid-November that you are travelling?
Air One, WizzAir and Alitalia (Alliance) have direct (non-stop) flights in mid-November and beyond.
Indirect flights with Swiss only take 3 hours. No need for a 10 hour stop-over in Brussels.

8I just did a quick search for third week of November and there appears to be WizzAir flights for very cheap (I saw 52 euro RT), it was a direct flight from Prague to Venice. However, it seems that WizzAir flies to Venice Treviso airport, not Venice Marco Polo airport.
As battybilly says, it would be useful if you posted your travel dates.

9Re# 1- 3 I did check before I posted - yes they do run, one or other of them runs most days. I just checked again on fly.co.uk who had a special offer on Wizz Air flight outward from Prague on Sat 24 Nov at 1040 return Tuesday 27 Nov at 1225 for £26.06 (approx €30). Now that is a bargain! Note that Wizz Air has just got really awkward over cabin baggage - you'll probably get charged another €10 each way for your cabin baggage.

10Air One flies non-stop from Prague to Venice but only 3 times per week.
Wizzair flies non-stop from Prague to Treviso but only twice a week.
By train, you can make it changing in Munich or changing in Vienna but, once again, we would need to know your specific travel dates to know if they run on them.
By bus, Eurolines Italy has buses 3 times per week and Eurolines Czech Republic has buses once a week.

13Hum. OK. I'll check again. I didn't come up with anything for Wizz Air or Air One. From Prague to Venice I can catch an overnight bus on the 19th. The date I'd really like to fly Venice-Prague is the 22nd. There is a bus that goes on the evening of the 23rd.
