Hiking in Dana Reserve
We are two adults and one child staying one night at the Dana guest house in December... On the day we arrive, we will be driving from Dead Sea via King's highway... With 4 PM sunsets, I am not hoping to get any daylight time in Dana on that first day... Next day, we just have to drive to Petra and would want to leave just in time to get to Petra before sunset... So we should have from morning till about 2 PM in Dana reserve...Looking for suggestions for the best, most rewarding and somewhat easy to moderate hike? Something less than 5 miles and 3-4 hours total...
Thanks,
Sakshi

Four hours would not really be sufficient to reach the bottom of Wadi Dana from Dana Village and to get back up again, so you'll have to limit yourself to one of the walks around the rim, or just go a little bit of the way down and then come back again.Bear in mind that the village is on the rim of the wadi, and that it's at about 1,500m elevation, while the wadi floor is more or less at sea level. It's not the easiest hike, either - it's not technically challenging (you don't need any special gear or anything) but it is quite steep and hard going.
I think there's a couple of 2-3 hour trails around the rim that you don't need guides for, and then one that goes to a nearby waterfall, which you do need a guide for.

There are some hikes around the camp site. You will have to drive to the camp site from the village and then there are several easy hikes around that camp site. The walk down hill from the car part area can be rewarding in the spring but there are hikes that go around the camp or towards a nearby hill.hussein
