I was wondering if it is easy to find useably public phones booths in Guatemala? Do they work with a prepaid card ? And where can you buy such a card?We are going to Xela,Panajachel, Chichicastenango,Antigua,Livingston,and Tikal

Due to what #1 said, public phones are not all that common, much less out in country. What you'll find more often are private tables or booths with several telephones laid out on them, you make a call and pay the proprietor for the minutes you've used.For the trip described, a disposable pre-paid phone is by far the best option.

My last trip that was in March I saw two pay phone booth in remote areas outside of Antigua. These were the first I had seen in years. Most everyoine uses a cell phone these days. This are vwey cheap.
