According to this map
http://www.transitbangkok.com/lines/bangkok-bus-line/513
Bus 513 is going from Nana to Don Muang.

Or, a bit more complicated, you could go by BTS from Nana to Asoke, change to MRT to Hualamphong and take a train to Don Muang. Only recommended if you like public transport and have a lot of time.

I would take a taxi.
Maybe go by BTS to Mo Chit first and take the taxi from there.

Why not taxi? It's direct door to door service and reasonably quick.
By the time you fart around getting your luggage on/off the bus or BTS/MRT/train, you may as well save yourself the hassle. We are talking about a few hundred baht here.

Anything other than taxi would be ridiculous.

(Even going by Skytrain to Chatuchak and then taxi will not save you money when you're with more than one person.)

Most cost/time efficient way would be sky train to Morchit and then bus to Don Muang.
Traffic from end of BTS station is usually quite ok and you beat central city traffic Jam by using sky train for first leg.

Last time I took number 59 and saw 503 along the route.
Other buses supposedly on that Morchit-Don Muang route are 34, 39, 510 and 513.

What time of the day are you going?

Taxi defo: straight onto the expressway and unless it's between 5-7pm there will be little traffic and it will take you less than 30 mins (I do the more congested part of this route every day to get to work). Even with traffic it takes less than 45mins. By the time you've got to the BTS waited for one with space to get on arrive, got off at Mo Chit, got a taxi/bus, etc. you are talking at least 1 hour, probably more like 1.5 hrs.

I disagree with # 3 and 5.

When I used to go to DM I always went Nana to Chatachuck ( Morchit station ) on the skytrain and then taxi to DM.
Saved heaps of time stuck in traffic jam waiting to get onto expressway.
I've never been unable to get onto the skytrain at anytime of day.
