in VC for a short trip need some advice please ?

Hello there, I'm heading over to Vancouver start of Dec to take in some sights and hopefully catc plenty fresh powder, is it other wise to road trip to banff at this Time of year ? Will road closures be likely with snowfall etc. any other suggestions about what to see, where to go, nightlife and tips on where there's cheap beers to be had all welcome.

Can't comment on the coast at that time of year, but there's usually not much snow in early December around Banff. Enough for a few hills to open up a few runs, but it's rare for conditions to be good in early December. December itself is normally dry, cold, and dark.

Like tch7 said....no "real" powder....hills just opening. Its about 9 hrs of straight driving from Vancouver to Banff...not including slower winter driving conditions that you may run into through the coquihalla or Rogers pass. Revy may have more snow in the higher elevations...but nothing near what they will have in January. Sorry bud, but your a few weeks too early;)

we did the trip across late December last year and some of the roads were closed as they were doing controlled avalanche work. (we just got past) But it is well signposted and they won't let you onto the roads so you can get accommodation in the town before at night. it is a long trip!

If your only here for a short time, I would suggest to go to Whistler instead, much closer (about 2 hrs drive) and easy to access by bus.
