Accomodations in Belize City or Caye Caulker

Flying to Belize City and will be spending a few days there before making our way to Guatemala and Honduras. Can anyone recommend clean rooms in Belize City or Caye Caulker. We are arriving on Dec. 18 and leaving on Dec 21. Is it possible to find something decent in the $50.00 to 100.00 per night? Thanks.

Forget about staying in Belize City and not because of the cost. Plenty of rooms on Caye Caulker

If you really have to stay in the City, the best hotel is the Radisson Fort George but it's probably over your budget. The Chateau Caribbean is nearby and probably cheaper. Hotel Mopan is probably cheaper.

If you want a guesthouse, Bayview Guesthouse is in a relatively safer neighbourhood on the north side. Get a taxi from the bus or water taxi terminal.

Isabel’s Guesthouse is very nice, but right in the downtown area of the city – opposite the Swing Bridge.

Outside the City, closer to the international airport, there's a place that's more like a B&B -- D’Nest Inn.
Also on the highway between the airport & Belize City -- Best Western.

If you don't need to stay in BC, I'd suggest heading directly to Caye Caulker. I know some lower budget places, but here's a site that might have some places in your budget range...

Or check out Belize Explorer and the downloads on the Belizse First website. Sorry that you'll be missing out on most of Belize - it has a lot to offer.

I agree -- I would stay in Belize City only as a last resort.

Caye Caulker will be busy at the time you're going to be there, but you should be able to find something in your price range. I'd make reservations in advance if possible. In your price range i'd look at places like Treetops, De Real Macaw, Oasi, Maxhapan or Plaza Hotel or even Yuma's Hostel.

If you must stay in or near Belize City, I highly recommend D'Nest Inn, which is in the US$75 range.

I stayed in Belize city the first (and last) time at the Seaside Guest House. I found out too late, it was more appropriate to our esteemed new forum member, mistergay.

Creepy by night, Belize City is cool to check out for a few hours in the daylight hours.

Thanks so much everyone. We have decided to go directly to Caye Caulker and rooms are reserved at the Plaza. Comments on trip advisor were very positive so here's hoping.

The Plaza? Doesn't sound very Caye Caulkerish.

Was recommended by Lan Sluder and comments from Trip Advisor were very good and the price seemed very reasonable. We need two rooms and many places are already booked for that time. Will hopefull let you know how it was.

You might also consider Spanish Lookout area of Cayo -- a major Mennonite agricultural center, and Blue Creek in Orange Walk District -- another Mennonite area
