Anyone try Volunteer/Work Exchanges: Helpx and workaway?
Anyone try these volunteer/work exchange sites ( http://helpx.net and http://workaway.info ) to visit or travel across South America? I plan on using them to help me travel through many South American countries for as low cost as possible. In addition, they seem to be a great way to learn the culture, the language, and meet new people, while also having a great overall experience.Anything I should concern myself regarding these sites (besides the obvious "impostor on the other side" scenario)? Anything I should consider instead of these sites or even ways of traveling for as low -cost as possible? Tips and experience appreciated!
Thanks!

Yeah, the second site is promoting illegal labour in Brazil. Working for someone's hotel or resort in exchange for bed and board. Leaving aside the jeopardy that places you in, in terms of breaching your visa conditions, you may want to consider the ethics of travelling to a developing country to take a job from a local, who might actually get paid for their labour. Avoid. The first one is similar fare but with more of an emphasis on half bright gringos hoping to scam some free labour for their tropical dream farm/ commune/ B& B etc. Caveat emptor.

Hi DjalmaUlrich,Thanks for the insight.
If you don't mind me asking though, are there similar ways to travel through South America? I suppose some NGOs, and perhaps volunteersouthamerica.com, but do you have any specific ones that you would recommend?
