good option for 7 days

Hi,
I've allocated 7 days for Sittwe/Mrauk U for my 4-week trip in mid-Nov. If that area is still closed in Nov, I'll need a Plan B. What's open north of Mandalay or south of Moulmein that fits the 7 days that I have? (I currently have around 6 days planned for Moulmein / Hpa-an area.) Thanks for all info; happy travels.

I believe south of Moulmein is also off limits. North-east of Mandalay you Have Pyin U Lwin, Kyaukme and Hsipaw this area is good for trekking and should keep you busy for about 5 days, great train ride from Kyaukme to Pyin U Lwin.

Just saw on the news in UK about Sittwe area, it is not looking good, one village has been fenced off with barbed wire, I don't it will end soon.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I've been to Monwya, Thanzi, Kawlaw. I like Thanzi l lot. Love the train ride from Thanzi to Kawlaw - 5 AM departure but no train in sight at 4:30 AM, There was a blackout in entire town of Thanzi. 4:45AM - they decided they can sell me train ticket. I guy was holding a candle, the other guy wrote the ticket - $5US / first class. The train rocked back and forth and sideway - more like a boat.
I'll look up Meiktila. Also, has anyone been to Kenfang recently? Thanks.

I planned to go to Pathein at the beginning of my trip. Maybe I'll move it to the end and combine it with beaches / seafood at the end. Thanks; happy travels.

#1 - how is trekking in Kyaukme? Do I need a guide? Are there villages nearby that I can spend the night?

Trekking at Kyaukme is good, yes best to have a guide, there are 2 or 3 good guides in town, that can take you on motorbike or just trek to villages, yes there are villages where you can stay. I did not do it lsat trip because I did not have time but plan to next trip. Ask for Naing Naing (9 9) for a guide he is highly recommended.

Some recent posts show that Sittwe / Mrauk U may be open - expensive permits and tours only. It's still wait and see.
It looks like I have time to go trekking in Kyaukme. How's the trail condition in Kyaukme area in early Dec? Any leeches? Thanks; happy travels.

Pretty good in Dec it is cool and dry, so leeches should not be a problem.
