Clothing during January

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone had any good cheap clothing brands that sold waterproof jackets and such they know about?

Do you want to buy waterproof before coming to Ireland or soon after arrival? If you want to buy in Ireland or UK, then just go to any shop that sells waterproof jackets - not just outdoor shops (which won't be the cheapest, although many have sales in January, but will be lightweight, easy to roll up when not in use etc), but also places that sell workmen's clothing (usually heavy duty, often fluorescent yellow with reflective strips - very safe when cycling or walking along roads), supermarkets / hypermarkets (usually light weight, often surprisingly good quality and very good value eg large Tescos most of the time, Aldi & Lidl just when they're selling hiking or cycling kit), charity shops (second hand kit, so range and quality depends on recent donations) etc.

You need only one light weight waterproof short coat and a fleece underjacket...
the climate is NOT so cold and one can get very steamy when wearing too much....a strong umbrella of the sporting type is very essential>

Umbrellas don't cope too well with high winds and are a pain in a**e to everyone else on city streets.

There are lots of cheap retailers that will sell you a light waterproof type jacket for €25 or less, Pennies and Dunnes stores all over Ireland, Tesco all the time other supermarkets like Lidl and Aldi regular offers during the winter. As copepod has stated Charity Shops can have some great stuff really cheap. And as a 6' 2" male Umbrellas should be banned on town streets whilst I still have use of both eyes.

Oxfam.

It's usually got some good waterproof coats for about £2 - £3.
