Advice on Langkawi and Penang?
Hello :)I am trying to plan my honeymoon at the moment, we're doing a few nights in Singapore first but would like some opinions on Langkawi and Penang.. We like to try and get into the culture when we travel but would like to relax as well. I know these are "holiday islands" but I don't want to end up somewhere like Phuket, I've been there once and hated it! Can anybody give me some info on what the beaches are like, what sort of cultural tours and activities there are to do, and tell me whether it's anything like Phuket or not, with tourists and annoying touts everywhere? I just dont see the point in travelling to places like that as I don't feel like I get a real experience out of it... Or are we are better off going to Kota Kinabalu? Thankyou!!!

Unlike #2,i would recommend Penang but not Langkawi ;-)Of course it depends on what you want.
Penang is great for Chinese culture,old buildings,food,temples etc.It is not good for beaches though.
Langkawi has a mix of family type places and couple's resorts.Beaches are fine,but there is not a lot else to do there.
Neither is anything like Phuket.There are tourists for sure (you will be one as well).Touts are very rare/non-existent.

i would really suggest you for Langkawi..because its the best holiday family holiday destination spot according t a recent consumer behavior survey done by journeymart.com..have a great time there..
