Visiting Gobeklitepe

I couldn't find any official site with information on the subject , is Gobeklitepe open to the public?

And if so is there any issue with visiting in late November considering all of the Syria business and it being so close to the border.

Thank you!

Easy to arrange an excursion there from Urfa. Until now, no problem at all for tourists despite the war in Syria. This would probably only change if Turkey is drawn into a war with Syria but this seems very very unlikely.

Thank you for your quick response, I will plan on visiting Gobeklitepe next month around the 20th! Hopefully there won't be a war at the time lol !!

Its no problem, I arranged a sunset trip with Aslan Kunkuk Avi guesthouse for 60tl for two people. Any taxi would also take you there for the right price. It was nice to see at sunset, local kids wil explain the history for a tip, if you want.

The whole area is very safe, including Harran which is close to the Syrian border. Essentially, if an area was deemed unsafe for people to visit for whatever reason, the Turkish military simply would not let you pass. Apart from young kids pestering you for money at these places around urfa, it is completely safe to visit.
