Sapa, Nalong and Phong nha in December?

Hello, friends,

I am going to Vietnam mid-december, expect to be therer untill mid-january. Considering Northern Vietnam for nature (caves, mountains, culture). Is it a too bad season? Should I go south instead? Thanks

I guess you meant Ha Long Bay.

The weather can be pretty rough during that time, with temperatures sometimes dropping to 8 degrees in Ha Noi and below freezing in Sa Pa. I guess it depends how you can deal with the cold. Also, Sa Pa can at times be completely socked in with visibility close to 0.

Thank you for the help, friends; yes, I meant Halong.

Do you think I should skip Halong too? Cold, cloudy, rainy?

Thnaks again

I think you will need to be flexible. There can be wonderful days in December and January, but there is obviously no guarantee.

There can be beautiful sunny days.
However as hanno says we can't guarantee.

I definitely think you should go to Phong Nha, the best time to visit Central and Southern Vietnam is December to March during the dry season.

Thank you friends, travel is planned. A little of the north (hoping good time) and phong nha. Thorn Tree is really invaluable!
