You must take into account, that Olimpiisky stadium is located not on a flat terrain, but near the hillside. Yes, it's a flat terrain near both entrances (on west and on northwest), but on opposite side - it's quite high hill.So two different location, both of which will look on the map as located 100-150 m from stadium can be a great difference - in one case way from closest metro station to your hotel will be pleasant walk some hundred meters from metro(subway) station to hotel on flat or almost flat street. In other case - same length, but climbing up on steep descent or staircase.
Is that a convenient location for both sightseeing, public transport and easy access to nightlife?
It let's assume we are speaking about better option from those which I've mention above - location not on hill, but under the hill.
It is OK for sightseeing, but not a perfect (most sights will be in 2-4 kilometers and almost all of them - on the same direction, on north, for better sightseeing it's better to choose the place somewhere more northen).
For public transport - it's fine.
For easy access to nightlife - not so good as for public transport, but better than for sights (many bars/pubs/restaraunts and for example most famous night club are concentrated near Besarabska sq, near Lva Tolstoho and Palats Sport metro station, it's a halfway from very city center to Olimpiisky, in other words it will be probably within 1 km from hotel)
is the public transport running 24 hours?
No. Metro open from 5:30 to midnight, rest of public transport start to work later and finish earlier.

Thanks MaxT! I have booked a hotel after your advice! Great! I also booked at the hill, since we can need some exercise, especially my friends :)Now I will read again through your previous posts and decide where to go for 2 days before Kiev.
After that I will search for some nice (not to expensive) bars and things to do around new year.
Great !
